Kakashi is at least 30 - 35 he was about 17 as he joined the anbu and was there for almost 10 years.

Kakashi has already been through enough in his life. He deserves some sort of break - not more death. He has to be alive after the war in order to show the audience that you can live through all sorts of pain and suffering. Also I doubt Kishimoto would kill off one of the main characters - if Gai can 'survive' 8 gates I dont see anyone from the good side dying anymore - especially with Naruto's god powers.
