If they fight or not, who is stronger! It may be close but I definitely dont think its kakashi = gai dismissing kakashi cz of gai's taijutsu is not very valid! Kakashi is fast, knows taijutsu and has ninjutsu. I think kakashi> gai based on that but then again gai opens the gates and its all bets off! btw how would gai defend against raikiri!

This is a close fight. The thing is Kakashi can and would out smart Gai quite easily to win this fight. But if Gai jumps to gates right away, which he would since he is facing a strong opponent then that would push Kakashi a ton.

Gai isn't a blubbering idiot like some people on this forum like to make him out to be.

Kakashi would have to kill him before he reaches Gates, and given Gai, even in just base is faster and there arguably isn't anyone who can beat him in CQC, I think Kakashi would have a hard enough time doing that.

Gai wins by using gates. He can maintain the 6th gate a good while, so kage bunshins are only going to save Kakashi for so long.

Not really sure. 5th could probably do it, given Kakashi couldn't keep up with a 5th gate genin Lee, I doubt he could keep up with a 5th gate Gai.
