I doubt that Gai's taijutsu would be useful against Kakashi.

you doubt? i know it would work, seriously, kakashi´s sharingan cannot even try to keep up with gai´s speed. + gai can use more than only taijutsu, he can use ninjutsu even tho he isn´t using it, + 7 gates are too much for kakashi to handle, just be real, ok?

I know that Gai uses ninjutsu and the gate thing too but it is still hard to make a comperation since their skills are much different.

Its kakashi, he'll be smart enough to know guy will use eight gates and being a potential eight user he'll sure be able to evade the attack until the effect of using eight gates starts affecting him

gai he has more chakara then kakashi. also he is master of taijutsu. ha also perform ninjutsu very well. he is also can fight against sharingan n genjutsu.

Gai is fast but not always. He needs to stop for some jutsus. Also Kakashi has plenty of jutsus to trick the enemy to save his ass. (kage bunshin, replacement, etc.) and he is really good at hiding.

Don't forget that MS can keep up with a higher speeding 1000 jutsus up his sleeve which he dos'nt use. Afterall if he would really fight gai he would be ready to fight kakashi(not really a kakashi fan, but he wins this one)

Kakashi: intelligence: 2 strenght: 2
Gai: intelligence:1 strenght: 3
Shikamaru: intelligence: 3 strenght: 0

Shikamaru is nothing without a group and preperation.
