This is a good theory but I think if this happened it was Rin who came up with the idea. Why else would Obito say, you let Rin die. Or on the same idea, Rin pulled the same stunt Yahiko pulled when he ran into Nagato's kunai, Kakashi wanted to fight but she realized they would be captured. She dies and then he kills himself.
