isn't that a real technique, i remember naruto using the actual version with a kunai explosive against gaara. the finger version kakashi used was just to knockback naruto, not hurt him. which naruto took as a gag.

Pain brought great fear into people's minds including Kakashi. It is almost impossible to be funny when fighting your greatest fear. Kakashi is a tensed up guy unlike Naruto who kind find ways to be humorous despite the peril. Oh well.....

I'm pretty sure that Nagato would have tried everything to preserve the dignity of the dead Yahiko, meaning that he would have almost been forced to show his Shinra Tensei to Kakashi just like that.
