-Lee understands the importance of Youth and how eternal it is. Gai taught him that at a young age and how the power of Youth will live on. By Gai dying, Lee knows that Gai will continue living on within his memory and inside him pushing him to wanting to train harder and harder. By Lee not accepting his Death, he would be giving up on Might Gai, youth and thus his shinobi lifestyle, ending his ninja way
