I'll keep it short and sweet.

I'm calling it right now. Kakashi got his MS awakened from Obito's death.

Alot of people will doubt, but keep this in mind:

1) It has been proven you only need to witness someone close dying in front of your eyes, not that you need to kill them necessarily.

2) There was nothing more tramatic for Kakashi (other than his father dying) than Obito dying. He cried hard right after he watched him die, you can tell it was very emotional for him. And he had the eye implanted BEFORE OBITO DIED.

3) Kakashi had MS before J-Man died, for anyone who thinks it was b/c of his death. No one significant (that Kishi shows us) died before Naruto Shippuden starts. Kakashi uses this new technique at the start of the new series.

4) Kakashi is not an Uchiha. Even with the MS awakened, he wouldnt know it was awakened until he randomly was able to use the new eye technique (Kamui). Just like when Sasuke got MS, he didnt know it right away. He wouldnt have known it for a long time if his brother wouldnt have had it to activate on site seeing Tobi.

To clear this up. They didn't unlock it because the other unlocked it, It doesn't work that way. A person with a sharingan has the possibility to only unlock MS in one eye, it doesn' always happen in both, just like Sasuke in the first series he had a 2 tomoe in the right and a 1 tomoe in the left.

I disagree. I believe that when Tobi awakened the MS from Obito's basic Sharingan Kakashi's was also upgraded to the MS. :p

I always thought they already said how Kakashi got MS. Wasn't it because he was having dreams of Obito and his father and blamming himself for their deaths? Seems logical right?

^^ above

very possible

Hey man, I agree.

FYI I never said Kakashi got his MS from TOBI awakening his. I said Kakashi got his MS awakened watching Obito die when they were young. He just wasnt able to use it, probably b/c he didnt even know he had it. Plus his chakra reserves sucked, I'm sure it was much worse when he was still a "teenager".

well he definitely had it before part 1, thats my assessment of the comment he mades towards itachi when him and kisame invaded konoha "hows the eye sight doing" or something to that extent, which means kakashi knew of MS and the posed risk to the user, im not to sure if he unlocked it right when he got it from obito, idk if a sharingan can go from 2 tomoe straight to MS, that seems a little off to me, i was thinking it probably had something to do with rin's death, but well find out soon enough

edit - and keep in mind obito's eye was known for tearing up, if kakashi was crying himself it would have been his, or both eyes, something to think about

No.

Kakashi was only able to awaken his MS in shippuden, around 30 years of age. Why not before that, if your theory is true.

Kakashi already had his MS awakened before Shippuden. He is able to use MS right at the beginning of Shippuden, which means it was activated before this series. We actually may be saying the same thing. I'm saying he was able to activate MS before Shippuden, before he was 30yrs old

I bet he got that shit from Rin's death. Orrrr Minato's?

The only reason I didnt say Minato's death, is because I assumed you had to WATCH your closest friend die. Kakashi didnt see minato die, so I never considered his death to be the trigger. But he did watch Obito die, he had no other family, and Rin's death is yet to be discussed...

Nope. He awakened it during time-skip, and said so himself indirectly.

Him awakening MS only refers to the 1st time he was able to use it. Not when he acquired the ability.

For example, Sasuke acquired his MS the moment his brother died. Did he know he had this new ability yet? No. Not until his body actually USED the technique for the 1st time, when he looked at Tobi's Sharigan. But he "could" have used it earlier, but didnt/couldnt because he didnt know he had the power to begin with.

I'm saying that Kakashi "acquired" MS after witnessing Obito die, but didnt officially know he had it until much later in the series. He wasnt able to use it until years later, he isnt an Uchiha after all !

I get it and somehow you have the point. Still, Sasuke used his first Amaterasu very shortly after Itachi's death.

But ok, I still don't think this is the case, but it's a matter of opinion.

I think we will learn the truth soon!

You know that book he's always reading. That's a book for dummies on how to unlock MS.

I wish Kishi explains how Shi unlocked his MS.

One more point. The only reason Sasuke could use Amaretsu so quickly after Itachi's death is because ITACHI PROGRAMMED THIS TECHNIQUE TO ACTIVATE AUTOMATICALLY (seeing Tobi's Sharigan). Someone who has to "activate" the MS on their own efforts (i.e. Kakashi) would take much more time to accomplish.
