Let Kakashi have his moment. The only department he's lacking in is power, but, supposedly, after the war the Ninja world will unite... or whatever Sasuke changes. There'd be no need for him to personally fight. The Kage title will be merely a hold a political value, instead of a military leader and a main battle asset.

I honestly don't see why he shouldn't be Hokage. The only thing he lacks is power, and still, he isn't that weak as other points out. Who's stronger than him? Naruto, Tsunade, Gai? Next? He can also become stronger in the timeskip, ya know. He is the most probable candidate in this manga, since everyone knows him, admires him and so on. Shikamaru is lazy, Naruto isn't that liked by the hypocritical elders and daymios too probably (and he isn't the desk type, atleast not in the manga. Maybe he actually matured in the film), K10 aren't the brightest side of the bulb, Sasuke is a rogue ninja, Tsunade for some reasons abandoned the role... seriously, who should be Hokage bar Kakashi?

My point was that the vast majority of Naruto readers are fans of the character, not that he is necessarily their favourite.

The most recent character poll I've found lists the following top 3
Naruto Uzumaki - 9,889 votes
Sasuke Uchiha - 8,099 votes
Kakashi Hatake - 7,568 votes

That's the 10th character poll following chapter 584.

Even if Naruto isn't your favourite character (which is a common trend with most MC across every medium of entertainment), you are still likely to be a fan, so you're likely to have the expectation that he fulfils his dreams when the manga ends. That isn't happening because there's money to be made off the films.
