Kakashi and Jiraya disappointment

I just finished playing Ninja Storm 3, which essentially is like reading the magna all over again, and after watching minato's death again, it really hit me how badly kakashi and jiraya failed naruto.

If you think about the bond between master and student that is constantly talked about, and how each generation takes care of and protects the next (ie shikamaru and asuma's son) how did Kakashi and/or Jiraya not raise and take care of Naruto for Minato???

I didn't really think about it before now, but this kidna bugs me now, seems like a really large plot hole.

Coming to think of it... why did they let Naruto live in some shitty appartment by himself at like the age of 4?

the game I had in mind for naruto befor enay of them came out was just like the show

Cos kakashi and jiraya met naruto when he is 13 or sth and hiruzen did take care after naruto. He is 4th hokage sons after all.

Kakashi wasnt even naruto teacher till naruto was 13, before then kakashi was traveling the world as an anbu, and when they became a team kakashi did somewhat check up on naruto or spy on him at least.

Jiraya took care of naruto ever since after the chunin exams, after naruto came back to the village, he went on about what he was doing researching while kakashi helped naruto.

They really didnt fail, naruto was not a priority for either of them and they both still had there own duties

Kakashi was only 14 when Minato died. Too young to be a caretaker.
Jiraiya has been wandering through the ninja world for a good amount of time. He probably don't want naruto to experience that kind of lifestyle where they have to move from village to village especially since he is still young.

That's fair, but I mean they could have at least visited him once in a while. Anything other than shunning him liek the rest of the village. Even if Kakashi was too young to be a caretaker he could have at least talked to Naruto once in a while.

Naruto describes his childhood as having 0 bonds. They could have done better.

they did what they could. you do realize that they are both strong needed shinobi's :

kakashi : young, one of konoha's best, missions.

jiraiya : looking for the child of prophesy, change shinobi world.

the third took care of naruto (as a busy hokage can). taking care of asuma's son is shikamaru's WAY of showing gratitude to his sensei (his own way).

that kakaski didnt do anything is something i could understand but jiraya not caring about the boy that even got his name from him.
the boy that was the child of his most precious student that even made him that boys godfather.
and jiraya was like:

He wasnt shunned by them, the higher ranked ninjas in konoha knew that Naruto was Minato's son but they were told to keep it secret. As a result, only Hiruzen was granted access to him. It was the chunnin and gennins with the rest of the village that shunned naruto
