in the recent chapter we find out kaido does not have a dragon fruit instead he has the fish fruit which makes no sense....... but then u remember that gyarados is a dragon that evolves from a useless fish. so what happened was big mom gave kaido fish fruit and then lvled up his ass with xp share till he was a huge ass dragon

kaido is a blue angry snake like dragon too just like gyarados

i think oda was playing too much pokemans when he came up with kaido

Nah its not about pokemon baba , Its old Chinese story about kaoi fish making the way to the top ironically we see this in first chapter of wano where kaois attempt to get through waterfall .

In his legend kaoi fish tried and tried but failed to get through after a century when it succeeded the God granted the wish to the fish to turn into Dragon . They use this inspiration when kids write their exam for University entrance in china they call them young kaoi to motivate them to improve or win and end result is always fruitful .
