This is my very first thread and hopefully what I say will make sense.
this theory has arisen because of reading many peoples theories and responses and agreeing with parts of them just not all of it.
So without further adieu:
I would suggest that:
Kaguya is the shinju/juubi and this was one of her sins
Juubi has no occular power or eye of itself and that the eye is kaguya's Rinnegan
I'll start off with what madara said about the juubi
Now isnt it strange that the juubi didnt attack the mother when it learnt that she ate the fruit? or another question is why didnt the mother come and defeat the juubi? Since according to the sage his mother was stronger than anybody else and surely this would have been a threat to her power
However, we learn that it was her two sons who defeated the juubi, but what is interesting is that the sage said to repent of our mothers sins
People would assume he meant because she ate the fruit and i did too until i saw this week Chapter
Now i think that the sage and his brother fought against the juubi because kaguya their mother merged with it and went on a rampage because through her sons people started understanding chakra. Her sin was that she wanted more power and did very bad means to attain it because as said by the sage "if a person has too much power eventually
they will get obsessed with it and lose control, that what is happening to madara just like my mother kaguya"
Now what those scans also show is that the "juubi eye" "Rinnegan" first manifestation was with kaguya.
It therefore fits perfectly through this assumption that the rinnegan eye that we see in the juubi is kaguya's. Oh and by the way it is an rinnegan because the actual translation says the "power of the sharingan". Power of the sharingan doesn't mean that she actually had it just the power of it, for the sharingan in todays world is actually a water down version of the original rinnegan and so is the sage of six paths rinnegan since it doesnt have the tomoes. The pure rinnegan is one which looks like sasukes and kaguya's which combines the powers of the rinnegan as shown through nagato and the sharingan powers in one eye. Unlike madara who has to change between his eyes to use his sharingan powers
hopefully this all makes sense even with some assumptions
P.s. Excuse the typo with Rinnegan*... only saw it when i finished
