What if it's actually a genjutsu and she's just an amazing troll, testing their abilities before she decides to keep or finish them.
and before I get the typical "lord sasuke" or "solo king naruto" or whatever clever silliness people come up with to counter/bash my response, It is possible that Kaguya, being the original creator and user of all ninjutsu and genjutsu, is able to cast such strong genjutsu that not even Sasuke's eye can recognize it as such. Kaguya is pretty much a god right now after all.

I also googled "underground lava/magma caves" they look similar (manga panel and google images). This to me means two things

I also think it might be genjutsu, and that her Byakugan may have help w/ that technique.
