This reminds me of one of the main things I usually forget about the Naruto manga. Alot of it is based upon Japanese folklore and more. Which also makes it fascinating and gives more depth to it.

I think with this being said we might be able to guess to a degree, the capabilities of Indra and Asura.

But still dying to know the back story of them...

Kaguya is obviously based on Kaguya from the bamboo cutter legend, Kaguya comes from the moon and returns to the moon like in the legend, she is a princess in the legend as well who ends up being very disappointed with the society on Earth.

Yes, that much is obvious, Deadmen, but this states that the character in the manga is an amalgam of Kaguya-Hime and Aditi just as Kishimoto based the manga on Shinto and Buddhism.
