If Kaguya tried to utilized "Mugen Tsukuyomi" it must means she failed to even start it, because if she managed to start it and then failed then she wouldn't bother with trying to make it happen again through Madara. Unless it was her own two sons who broke the Genjutsu, which may be likely as we now have Sasuke and Naruto to do that. But, if she knows that they can break it like her sons may have done in the past, wouldn't it make more sense to tell Madara about it or influence him to kill them as quickly as possible?

I just find it slightly strange that if the plan failed once, by someone stronger then it wouldn't make sense for Madara to try it again. So what are your thoughts? Did Kaguya ever utilize the "Mugen Tsukuyomi" or did she fail before she could even start the Genjutsu?

Brogoromo and Hagoromo stopped her most likely.

I think Kaguya was bested by her little boys.

However, Hagoromo stated that they fought the Juubi in order to make up for her sins. Which doesn't really make all that much sense if they were the ones that defeated her. As defeating her would end her sins, unless she fused herself with the Juubi prior to her "death".
