No one knows how madara died and not even he knows how kaguyas will got placed inside him. Imo i think kaguya definately saved him that day he died. How? Im not quite sure yet but the only other option is for kaguya to have transfered herself through gedo when he connected to it for the first time. But that still doesnt explain how he got there and survived to that point so the most plausible is that through some transmigration process or something kaguya implanted her will into a young broken uchiha.

Kind of the same reason madara chose obito. Obito was a great kid who desperately wanted to be acknowledged. Hashi said that madara was once a kind man. He went through MANY tragedies that made him desire peace and happiness in anyway he could. Kaguya used him to get to this point so she can finally revive herself and finish what her sons stopped her from finishing.

Naruto came out of nowhere and kicked it back at Madara and immediately created a Giant Wind + 4Tailed Lava RasenShuriken, threw it at Madara, made it erupt (which almost kills Madara and sliced the God Tree). Kaguya (god tree) tells madara to absorb the tree (Kaguya).
