Kaguya is the Juubi
(Note the shinju is the Juubi/god tree) The more I keep rereading the manga and after I read Wolfus great Thread about the god tree I though of something a bit far fetch but what if kaguya is the legendary Juubi.
Now we have to look at what kishimoto has shown and said so far and that's
1. Both the Shinju and kaguya had the sharinnigan as it seems you need that eye to cast the ET and had been stated she had used her eye to use it on her enemy's
2 Hagaromo once said that he and his brother fought the Juubi for his mothers sin
I believe that kaguya was hungry for more power and the Shinju was just a huge tree that had all the chakra that ever existed being natural energy it probably attracted all types of animals so it was a symbol of life which why it was worshiped
As for the fruit I suspect it was the Shinju chakra concentrated into one point so when kaguya ate it and the over whelming power was too much for her and it corrupted her as we'll as madara. The fruit most likely gave her abilities the shinju could not use because it didn't have a conscience and a mind.
Kaguya having attain the powers of the shinju tried to receive more power but the shinju probably had a defense mechanism so if it's chakra ever got stolen it could use it's roots to obtain it back but that's about it. Kaguya probably arrived got sucked up by the shinju and with kaguya corrupt and evil will the shinju transformed as the Juubi as it had the visual powers and form to mor and fight basically nature energy true form but as the what the shinju wanted it wanted all of it's stolen chakra which was hagaromo and his brother.
Hagaromo and the brother defeated the Juubi/Kaguya and sealed it in themselves as the raw power of the Juubi (Not even the complete version the alliance fought) went to hagaromo and his brother had the Gedo Mazo as it was the mind and will of the Juubi. It probably saw the sages will and chakra in Naruto and wanted to get rid of him immediately
3. when madara was on the verge of defeat the Shinju told madara to absorb him and shows kaguya (presumed) face saying it's time to become one. madara then got a power up that looks extremely similar to kaguya and if you notice madara says "I see the holy tree itself" as if instead of using it he became he tree itself and on the left side of his head resembles kaguya horns as we'll as the magma on his cuffs and bottoms robe like kaguya
4. The mention of Kaguya so late on the manga when kishimoto himself even said he was ending naruto before 2015. Things can change but it seems like he's trying to make madara and kaguya as the same villain as madara has her powers but as a male form because he not have the time to squeeze her in by her own ark based on what we said.
Side note Extra I don't know how but I feel like the reaper death seal has something to do with it the Shinju I believe all who seal it themselves or acquire it's power are forever cursed. I believe that the Juubi/Kaguya was so powerful that the defeating her was out of the question so the brother had extremely powerful sealing techniques and is the Reaper of Death because he and hagaromo weakened the Juubi enough for hagaromo brother to use his powers which were to split or take souls. He split the Juubi and they big sealed it themselves and were cursed for obtaining such powers as hagaromo a brother had the Gedo Mazo until he died which he told hagaromo that the Gedo would be released so that hagaromo had to use Chibaku Tensi which create the moon and when e died was then cursed to be forgotten by history and be forever cursed to collect the souls of whoever summons him. It even is said that no jinchurki can use the technique probably because it belong to the Juubi body which was part of hagaromo a curse so they are kept apart. Hagaromo curse then died he was forced to watch his sons fight for all of history and see the blood baths that chakra caused while kaguya curse was to become the Juubi
Notice how the death reapers horns are different from Kaguya for those who say that it's Kaguya i think their the brothers even though not really shown, and the hair is similar to Hagaromo brother as well.
