Am i the only one who realised Pain and some other Akatsuki members never used shadow clone in battle? Why didn't Pain use it in battle despite having the Rinnegan.

why would pain need clones? there is already 6 of them + i believe that pains couldn´t make shadow clones

each pain (except for Yahiko's body) had only one technique they could use... yes only one but that one jutsu was super strong!!

i agree that Hidan, Kakuzu and Sasori can't use shadow clones nor any type of clones

Lets see you got water clones, lightning clones, clay clones, stone golem clones. Those are the other ones i can recall, maybe a sand clone, i don't know. I think it comes down to the fact that every character has an affinity towards certain techs, others are passed down. Naruto made it his main technique because originally it was his worst. Plus, i think kage buushin is probably one of the coolest techs, I mean how many times have you been like "man this would be a lot easier if there were three of me to do everything" and you gain the experience from each of them.

Pein - basically has 6 strong zombies who can take damage but don't feel pain
Konan - made of paper and did make paper bunshins
Kisame - The only one who has the chakra and a good reason to do it in Akatsuki
Itachi - Can achieve more with Genjutsu then physical tricks
Orochimaru - Pretty much indestructable body, would only benefit from clones to trick people, but i'm sure Oro has better ways to do that.
Kakuzu - Has pretty much 4 clones walking around with an element
Hidan - Is immortal so the same thing as Oro, but i don't think Hidan has the Chakra to make a lot of clones
Deidara - made clay clones
Sasori - Sasori has an army of 100+ puppets, why would he make a clone
Zetsu - can devide himself and uses clones all the time
Tobi - untouchable, and the legendary Madara using clones ? c'mon man

As said by Love Cook and another, Konan has made paper clones. Deidara has made clay ones. Itachi and Kisame can, as you've stated. Zetsu can. No one else needs clones seing Kakuzu and Pain have their own little army of clones XD Hidan......is immortal...all he needs XD Sasori has Hiruko, Third Kazekage, 100 puppets, and himself so he doesn't need one XD

Madara....is Madara, enough said.

But yeah, Pain's paths had one distinct power. There was six of them so no clone was needed.

Konan - Can also use Paper techs to hide among papers and get better defense than clones.
Kisame - Samehada is almost a clone of himself.
Itachi - can clone himself in Tsukoyomi multiple time in time manipulation genjutsus. Clones are almost useless. And what better ally that Susanoo.
Orochimaru - Clones will weak allies compared to 10000 snakes, Manda, summonings, Edo Tensei
Kakuzu - apart his 4 clones, his strands techniques almost kills shadow clones instantly.
Hidan - He barely knows any jutsu apart his jashin ritual or else, he will be pretty invincible.
Zetsu - When someone can multiply to 100000; where the heck will he need Kage Bunshin
Sasori - 100 Puppet, 3rd Kazekage, Puppet Manipulation, Puppet Mastery, Hiruko Puppet and great defense. Kage Bunshin pales way too much compared to Sasori's extraordinary power.
Deidara - his clay clones does 100 more damages than usual clones.
Tobi - Pretty much useless for him.
