I first noticed this back in gen 1, but I have seen it a few times in gen 2 including in the newest chapter. If the Shadow Clone Jutsu is supposed to be a high-rank, Forbidden technique, then why is it know by just about 50% of all shinobi at Jonin rank or higher? Perhaps they are just using the basic clone jutsu that produces only illusions instead of physical clones. I don't think that many people would know the technique if it was supposed to be forbidden.

And on another note, why is it forbidden anyway? It seems like a pretty handy jutsu, and it doesn't seem like it is immoral or has draw-backs that are too severe. I dunno, just seems weird to me.:confused:

What do you think fellow Naruto fans?

It basically splits the chakra from the user, not a good thing. People like Kakashi can use like 2 or something, but because Naruto is BA, he can spam it. Its forbidden because if say Kakashi used it too much he would die

It's forbidden because it divides chakra equally among the user and his clones, which can result in death for people without large chakra reserves.

And not many people know it.

Its forbidden because the more you make the more by half your chakra gets split up evenly with them, so if you make 10 clones you get 1/10th of your chakra to each clone. So to people that bave low chakra reserves that will equate to alot of strain or possibly even death if they run out of chakra. Only the mass shadow clone jutsu is forbidden.

The technique is forbidden because, when you use Kage Bunshin, you split your chakra equally between all the clones (including yourself). That's not a problem for someone like Naruto who has an incredibly big reserve of chakra, but, for a normal person, the danger of running out of chakra is there. Also, I believe only the Tajuu Kage Bunshin no jutsu (the one where you create a lot of clones) is forbidden, that's why you see jonin using the regular technique.

If shadow clones are forbidden, what about Water Clones or Sand Clones etc?

Apparently it takes less chakra to make clones out of tangible materials than to make them purely out of chakra and shadows. That's why they aren't forbidden.

As for the other points, I can see why that would be the case of it taking too much chakra. However, forbidding it just because an idiot can't manage his/her own chakra is a little bit excessive. I could see restricting it to only Anbu, Kage's and elite jonin, while only making exceptions for people with massive chakra reserves, like Naruto.

It's all about being smart with how you use the technique.
