Really. I thought he just went to orphanage, but never thought that they'd actually let him take care of kids and lead the place. :| I mean, he is an ex-criminal.

He was broken by Danzo, twisted by Orochimaru and Itachi brain-jacked him until his mind was put back into place. I'm glad Kishi gave him closure.

Actually, running an orphanage & going back to his childhood before all of this was a great idea on Kishi's part.
