Let me get straight to the point because I know how some of you all have short attention spans.

Orochimaru and Kabuto had been traveling with each other for quite sometime.
Kabuto was able to become a perfect Dragon Sage.
Orochimaru was searching for the "perfect body".
How is it possible for Orochimaru to see the hidden potential is Sasuke but not Kabuto?

Kabuto has a body that can handle SM apparently but isn't the perfect body for him which would've been Kimimaro/Sasuke? So good body but not perfect?

Because Kabuto didn't have that much potential until he injected himself with other's DNA. Sure, he was a great medical nin and all that, which is the reason Oro picked him as a partner in the first place, but he didn't have any special Kekkei Genkai's or anything like that, which is mainly what Oro is looking for :y

Kabuto is smart but doesn't have any KG like Sasuke and Kimimaro...Kabuto's strength was a result of medical experiments didn't really have much potential to begin with..

Oro wanted Kimmimaro's body most of all.. even more then he wanted Sasuke's.. but yeah cuz of kimmi's illness it wasn't possible.

about Kabuto, he's body apperantly was able to deal with dragon sage mode while Orochimarus body was not.
but Oro also didn't want to take Kabuto's body because Kabuto was his most trusted right hand + extremely talented medic ninja who could keep Oro alive in bad situations (with his medicine etc..)

+ Kabuto's body itself except for outstanding medical skills doesn't have any special abbilities or Kekkei Genkai's..
