Im sure he's at the point where he knows no matter what he tries to pull, its gonna result in the same outcome, and I think he is right now at the point of self realization and is on the brink to awakening with a different attitude than before, OR he will actually defeat Itachi in his mind and awaken just to see that none of it matters anymore.
