These two characters, in my opinion, are among the best written in the manga, if not the best written in the manga. I recently got into a debate with a member of this site who defended Sasuke as the best written character, while I defended Kabuto.

So now I turn to the public opinion: who do you believe is the better written character?

Kabuto hands down, Sasuke said he wanted to be hokage, less than hour after that he tells kakashi and sakura that the only reason he saved them from IT was cos of nardo. Kabuto imo is one of the best written characters in the whole series.

Not a fanboy, just changed to this cause i got bored of Menma. But Kabuto. He had a sad backstory; but at the end, he found himself. Sasukes close though.

kabuto because of his change and background story while sasuke a main character kinda annoys me with his constantly changing attitude xd

They're both definitely very deep, very good characters. But I of course have to go with Kabuto. His cathartic moment was fantastic. I was more interested in and entertained by his mental disorder and his reasonings. Not to mention saddened.

You think sasukes earlier actions make him a well writen character? I consider his characters personality in early-mid part 2 to be forced, at best. His fights were always entertaining though.

Kabuto however is a character who has been on both sides of the fight since chuunin exams. I never, ever expected that weak looking guy with glasses would end up playing such a major role.

Sasuke, many people who say kabuto cant back it up( althought some did), i say sasuke because all his actions are logical and if we were in the same situation, we'll probably do the same

I dont think you know the meaning of "forced" because all his behavior changes were natural

I disagree strongly. His reasons for saying he was going to destroy the leaf was laughable. He changes his mind more than a teenage girl.

I'm pretty sure you're twisting it, answer me this:
If you were in sasuke shoes, what would your answer to the hokages be?

Myself. said:
Kabuto was discovered and taken into an orphanage from a young age, while he himself had no memories of his past even directly prior to that event. He grew up unsure of himself - even after being recruited as a Shinobi -, a point that peaked when he unknowingly mortally wounded his 'mother', one of the primary caretakers at his orphanage.

From here, Orochimaru used his guile and the boy's own uncertainty to convert him into his assistant, promising an identity for the boy. A promise he wasn't able to keep before his untimely sealing by Itachi.

Kabuto assumed the persona of Orochimaru; he had previously felt confused, but know with his master gone what was preventing him from becoming the next snake master? Except he had evolved past the level of a snake; he believed himself to be a Dragon, the final identity that he had sought for his entire life. Something that he can know himself by.

Kabuto's character intrigues me because when you look at it, he was truly on a journey to find himself. The scan in which he looked inside a lake at his reflection directly after murdering his 'mother' and saw Orochimaru was such great symbolism to me.

Im Part 1 we could see his 'mash' of sorts, a facade molded by Orochimaru to fit his benefits. All it did was hide the conflicted soul underneath.

As he grew in power, that facade began to crack away more and more until all that existed was the true Kabuto, who believed himself to have elevated above mere humanity into the form of a god.

And then, in Izanami, he found that he never truly knew himself at all.
