Kabuto -most sympathetic backstory

- orphan left with nothing from the beginning, not even a NAME, wandering around in the middle of nowhere for who knows how long
- tricked into being the root's dog and spy for years in every village and had to keep on erasing his identity.
- betrayed and thrown out by konoha and forced to kill his own adoptive mother whod been brainwashed into not even remembering him.
- joined up wit orochimaru who was the only one giving him any purpose and identity. as gaara said better to be with someone bad than with no one at all

and unlike many other villain backstories, the themes and reasons for him joining oro remained prevalent throughout his character in the series. kabutos act in the forest gave us a hint of the man he could be had this shit not happened to him.

Agreed, Kabuto had one of the most depressing,best done back story's in the series.

I actually love Kabuto's backstory, it was one of the most interesting that we've seen. I think I was one of the only people giving the flashback chapters 5's whilst everyone was giving 1's and screaming "Fu@k, Kabuto he's a loser".

Kabuto is easily one of the more interesting characters IMO, he gets a lot of hate though. But as you said there are also other characters that have interesting backstories. Kabuto, Gaara, Tobi, Kisame and Naruto are probably my favourite ones, but i'm sure i'm forgetting some. I don't see a problem with backstories as long as they give a character substance. No one likes a 1-dimensional boring character.......*cough*....Madara....*cough cough*
