Kabuto & Edo Tensei: Who is really pulling the strings?

Hi guys,

I came upon an idea whilst watching people argue about which characters are better.

You know how Edo Tensei allows the user to summon the dead through means of a summoning ritual correct? The summon is able to act of their own free will unless tagged with a seal that blocks voluntary movement/speech/will.

So during the Nagato fight with Team Itachi, was Nagato under full control of himself or was he being completely controlled by Kabuto?

Like does the block seal work like an autopilot randomly choosing the best moves or does Kabuto have to navigate the moves of the summon? If so then doesn't that put Kabuto on a whole other level? If he is completely controlling them then does he know all about the summons techniques beforehand?

The point I wanted to get to was when Nagato was showing his full powers(if he was otherwise excuse me) was that Nagato or was that all Kabuto's doing? Wouldn't that mean that Kabuto almost beat team Itachi instead of Nagato?

i think the edo tensei makes the user know the techniques maybe.

P.S: i think kabuto is a genius at shikamaru and itachi and minato level

Yeah kabuto is in full control but i dont make sense on how does he know everyones attacks
