I was just pondering what may be to come in the battles with Madara and the Kages, when a huge hole (not plot hole, but just hole) came to me and I decided I would ask everyone's opinions' on it.

First of all, how can Kabuto control so many Edo's? Like how does he actually control them, and keep track of so many at once? I would really like to get some more insight into this jutsu, since all we really know is that he needs the DNA and he can resurrect them. The fact that each body is resurrected with the chakra of the original person as well does not really do it for me either. I'll preface this statement by saying yes, I know our laws of physics do not apply to Naruto. But it just seems completely out there that he can just create more chakra (basically goes against the law of energy being created/destroyed). I feel like it is just something that has to be explained (which it really does, since Kabuto will be involved in fighting more directly soon).

Secondly, how can he use them effectively? Most of the people he resurrects he has never seen fight (I think it is safe to assume that, since Kabuto is relatively young, especially compared to those he resurrects). So how does he know what their jutsus are, and how to effectively use them? Obviously he could look into records and such to figure out the jutsus they knew, but it's not like he has had tons of practice using Madara's or anyones' bodies.

As the end of this thread, and my point, is that I feel like there has been WAY too much of a power emphasis on the Impure World Resurrection. Kabuto can Resurrect all these powerful ninja, but I really can't see this jutsu ending up being that powerful anymore, especially compared to the power of Naruto has (please don't make this a thread about his new mode), and the power Sasuke will probably be getting in the future. So basically, I feel like overall Kabuto is just going to be a blip on the grand scheme of Naruto. Thoughts?

Kabuto keeps track of them mentally and by using that map he showed, which tracks the location of his Edos.
He said he wasn't sure how long he could control that many while still leaving their personalities intact, but that "he'd gather that data in the field" or something. Well, their is a sacrifice for the tech. to work so it could be explained that way, as well as their souls returning.

He left most of them with their personalities in tact, and simply "instructed"/programmed them to respond and fight how they would normally. For example, the first two Hokages were under Oro's total control from the beginning of the battle when he put the Fuda tag in their skulls, so they most likely weren't nearly as powerful as they would have been had they retained control, it's just Oro probably didn't want to risk anything.

He seems to have somewhat of a mental connection with them, since he noticed when Naruto took out that Magnet Element user so quickly.

The real power of Edo Tensei comes to play in that they're immortal, and that for those who knew the revived before their death, fighting them will probably be gut-wrenching if they were a friend or loved one.

yeah thank you for the thought out post. I did know that stuff about Edo. Basically i just really want to know more about it, since it is a tech that is more than just manipulating a nature or something similar

I understand his Jutsu this way:

He just kind of controls them. I mean, he tells them to attack every ninja on the way and they have to do this but they do it like they want, because Kabuto's "slaves" have some kind of a free mind. So they can tell the other how to defeat them. He can stop them from doing so, like he did with Chuukichi.
Still he could give them orders to do certain things like: Do this Jutsu, or that Jutsu but he doesn't need to do this.

I think he just picked the ones, from which he knew they would be really really strong. I don't think he knows ALL of their Jutsus. Or... maybe he does... not quite sure... I mean, there is Data about the ninjas, and he have his spies everywhere. So maybe he did knew.

The Chakra thing... I think, he could use a lot of the chakra from the bodies that he needs to put the DNA of the dead Ninjas on it. This could solve some of the problems.
