Complete agreement. Had Sasuke not been there to protect his ass, he would've been mindwiped by Sasuke even at that instant when he used the hermit technique and they both lost their Susano'os. Without Sasuke's genjutsu to reflect his, both of them would have been defeated. Yet I keep hearing the same Bullshit how Itachi saved Sasuke every time.

Kabuto has so many jutsu and fighting styles that he has literally so many different ways to kill Itachi, edo or not.

One example, Itachi is pushed into a corner by the Sound 4's jutsu. How is he going to counter Tayuya's sound jutsu that pierces any level of Susanoo on his own? He can't. He'll be stuck and in seconds Kabuto will wipe his mind.

1. If Sasuke wasn't there, Itachi would have protected himself with Susano'o

2. He let himself be harmed so he could do Izanami

3. He wasn't trying to kill Kabuto

like I said before, bit his own lips to cause pain and break out of it, like Shikamaru and Kurenai did.

I believe if Itachi wants to kill Kabuto it will be a mid difficulty match at best, here are a few suggestions:

crow clone as distraction then try to cut off his head(similar to the manga)
surround him with ama then kill with either yasaka magatama or totsuka sword.
limit his movement with yasaka magatama then finish him with more yasaka magatama or totsuka sword.
Itachi had this battle thought out since the start.
