It makes sense considering the sage was able to discover chakra. Either he had byakugan or he had the same ability as juugo without going crazy. Maybe he was a hybrid of both?

Cant say that Juugo is related or merely his clan is a mutation but yeah..

I say the sage had the Byakugan & a strong life force, in turn having the eyes of a Hyuga & body of an Uzumaki.

In contrast, the Juubi had the Sharingan & Wood style, in turn having the eyes of the Uchiha & body of the Senju.
