1st panel. Nothing wrong with defending yourself in a battle, even if it means blocking.
2nd panel. Gaara, Minato, Rock Lee and Kakashi were there as help, without them, Gai would be dead.

Everyone seems to have forgotten that Minato told Gai to go straight for Madara no matter what happens, because he was going to help him avoid the black orbs, and make an oppening for Gai to get past the omniyodon sphere, but Minato didn't know at the time that Gai was strong enough to punch through it.

If Gai didn't trust Minato he would have just side stepped them and punched a whole through the omniyodon sphere and then punched Madara through the other side with another punch.

If you think Gai in 8 gates can't dodge the black orbs you are mistaken, because Lee did it while using the 5th gate.

It is true that Gai got massive help, although I disagree with pulling out his best techs, I thinkt that by becoming Ten Tails host you loose abiltiy to use Ninjutsu, except meallable black chakra/energy which is combination of the all basic elments nature + use of on Onmyoudon.

Well Then Let me fix my speech before. Madara is giving his all in Taijtusu battle and he is clearly matched in Taijutsu battle by Taijutsu God Maito Gai using 8th gate. I think that if Madara utilized his Destructive/defensive power well then he would be top over guy easily.

In my opinion Ten tails host is limited to the:

- malleable black fluid chakra/energy to take on any desired shape. Perfect Defence and Offence limited to user's imagination. Hower the destructive capacity/durability/hardness etc. of malleable black fluid chakra/energy depends on the amount of ten tails chakra/energy host is using.
- Onmyoudon added to black fluid stuff can nullify any Ninjutsu while defending or attacking.
- Ten tails beast ball
- sealing techniques
- Ten tails's abilities: Mokuton etc.

Well and that could be all abilities of The Ten tails hosts.

Madara was going to use Rimbo hengoku as juubi jinchuriki, so clearly he can use ninjutsu as a juubi jin. He's choosing not to since omnyoudon is acceptable enough in most situations (fast, nullifies all ninjutsu, strong enough defence to take a pounding).

Ten tails has no limits on the jutsu they can use, as I've expressed above with the fact that madara was going to use a rinnegan jutsu. If he can use rinnegan moves, he has the abilities of rinnegan which includes the ability to use any and all ninjutsu. ergo, he can do anything he pleases. The simple fact is, Omnyoudon suffices for most situations, only one it doesn't suffice for is in situations where senjutsu is present.

If madara wasn't playing around, he would have launched a limbo at kakashi/gaara/minato/lee or thrown a couple black balls at kakashi/gaara since minato is off screen, or he'd use PS and wipe them in a swing, or he'd simply summon shinju and flat out kill the lot in an instant. Even naruto almost died while on BSM reserves; these guys would be wasted within seconds. The fact of the matter is, madara isn't getting his ass kicked by guy... he's getting his ass kicked by guy, lee, kakashi, gaara and minato. Without the other 4, guy would have never made it past the point where madara encased himself in omnyoudon.
