[Discussion] Jutsu (not rp type)

How do you think people in the narutoverse discovered jutsu? Prime example : The reaper death seal jutsu. I mean, you die if you use it, so how the frick do you discover it, than pass it on?:shrug: Or any other jutsu besides that (not including what SO6P came up with).
In addition, how to people like EMS/MS/S users know what new jutsu they develop without having seen it used before?
(Yes I realize its a fictional universe, I was just pondering this at work.)

Almost every Jutsu came from something.
Shiki Fujin more than likely is descended from a simple Fuinjutsu.
Like Naruto's Perv Magnet Jutsu, it came from Transformation.

Yeah I always thought about stuff like that. In the event that the jutsu is not created purposefully by a ninja (like a rasengan, chidori, etc) and is instead something that has to be discovered (Susanoo, Amaterasu, Pain abilities, etc) then I guess it was just trial and error, provided the Sage didn't create "all jutsu" xd

When people first tried reaper death seal they probably had other people around that they could have talked to about what they were experiencing. Also the that uchiha tablet explains all the eyes that can be unlocked (forget what it's called, pretty sure its not uchiha tablet lol, but you need a sharingan to read it)

It has never made sense to me. did they just randomly try different hand signs to see what would happen? Like elemental attacks that use hand signs? What if the person does the right hand signs focuses their chakra but doesnt have the right chakra element does nothing happen? or does a similar attack but of a different element happen?
