It's a non debatable fact regardless of the many better anime out there that Naruto is the only one to reach close to the god status DBZ has. We all know what made DBZ rise was the fast paced fights and explosions as well as the Super Saiyan transformation because besides that the story wasn't that complex which is okay sometimes.

But what about Naruto? Was it the plot? lore? characters? abilities? timing? Naruto's talk no jutsu?

You must have bumped your head. Naruto is close to Dragonball, meaning Kid Goku and people in that era. In fact, Kid Goku is the strongest DBZ character the strongest person in NarutoVerse can beat. Dragonball Z and Naruto aren't even close. Their lowest tier fighters can beat Friezia, who destroys planets with his fingers.

OT; If you're talking about anime, for me DBZ is better and more popular. Naruto anime is full of unnecessary edit.

If you're talking about manga, for me Naruto is better and reaching if not surpassing DBZ in popularity.

In terms of power or what? One piece do have god tier characters. But i dont think they are on busting meteors or mountain busting or village busting level if anything i think Bleach is up there with DBZ thats just me though
