No he separated the Kyuubi into 9 different parts. They are all Kurama just separated. I guess you could say that he has the same ability to separate just like the So6P but it's not like the So6P's technique. Think of it as step 1.

He does not have the sages power ,but he is suppose to represent pain in that respect with the way he fights by using another medium.

Even though some characters changed the events themselves still plat out the same with of course some notable differences.
Road to Ninja is the plot in an alternate universe.
This is how it would of want down if naruto was the one to bring destruction to the world instead of nagato.
And with that comes a different path for not just naruto obviously,but his fellow shinobi within the village.
