I too saw Boruto the Naruto Movie tonight, and I must say it was a great movie too. Comedy was a stand out. I can’t count the number of times I busted out a loud laugh in the theatre. Honestly, the movie was already made great thanks to the well-thought-out comedy. Anything else was just added bonus, really.
The action scenes were amazing and well choreographed. From the small, strategic Chunnin Exam battles to the explosive Super Saiyan-like fight between the protagonists and villains, there was always entertainment for those who enjoyed action more than storyline. Even storyline lovers will enjoy this movie too. The movie stressed out important moral lessons and themes that gave depth to the plot and made it really interesting. It provided a sense of realism to which the audience can somewhat relate to.
I felt Boruto’s character development was nicely executed. It wasn’t rushed; his maturity grew as he starts to realise how important his father is to the village (regarding the Hokage position) and his very own family. That final scene of Naruto and Boruto fist-bumping each other with their bandaged arms was a perfect way to end the movie. It highlighted their acknowledgement and mutual understanding of their different paths. I’m really glad Boruto has chosen a path similar to Sasuke’s one (a Hokage acting from the outskirts of the village) as that path fits him more. I also agree that Sarada should become the next Hokage as her intelligence, maturity and wisdom would make her a suitable candidate for that position (and it's about time we get an Uchiha Hokage already, lol).
Overall, I'd give this movie a 9/10 easily. I found it much more enjoyable than The Last. Plus, we got more screentime of Sasuke and we actually get to see the peak of his entire character development in this movie. It’s really astonishing to see how far he has grown and matured from his vengeful and criminal past. He’s a true gentleman now.
