We don't know anything about Dragon and Blackbeard hasn't shown off enough to truly make a good ruling about how will things go if they were to go 1 on 1. Dragon's been hyped tremendously. While Blackbeard has the powers to seem unstoppable. Maybe it's Oda's genius but even I'm stumped. Maybe you could give some of your personal theories of what each of these 2 are exactly capable of? And if they could match up against each other?

His hype derives from the power he attained from White-Beard i.e. Gura-Gura-no-Mi, also the fact that he now have several ships under his command and he also had taken control of most of WB's territory.
Dragon's hype derives from his severity of threat to the World Gov., for him to be able to lead such a massive revolution, he must be super strong but stronger than a Yonko...? I doubt that.

Hype= Dragon, portrayal= Dragon because every showing of BB has him looking like an opportunistic cowardly weakling never taking a real fight straight up.

If BB is already at his peak then it would be BB & If not it should be Dragon. Being the bridge b/w two people who arguably have more or less Roger level potential alone should put him around Prime Garp's level. He might as well as even stronger than Garp given the fact that he has position over one of most OP DF's out there and he's fairly smarter as well as more tactical than Garp.
Dragon wins this handily.

Lineage: D who have demonstrated traits that put them well above the rest of the universe. However, he isn't just any D but one from clan Monkey. Each of the known members have/will be the head honcho's of their own factions. Blood does play an important role in this clan as we can see Ace likened to his own father in both character and potential. Hence why Akainu wanted Luffy dead.
Spirit: Luffy's unrelenting drive to go to MF reminds Iva of Dragon. Luffy's haki & fearless in said war is attributed once more as a trait of Dragon.
Activity: Single handedly challenging the World Government an act he has carried for an entire decade. All the more reason to speculate his HH is other worldly.

before BB made himself known, not to mention that probably doesn't directly
originate due to his strength. But exactly what his title says, being a threat to the
World Government actively, there's really been no other pirates who outright challenge the
WG aside from Luffy and even then Luffy doesn't revolve around taking it out.
Thus far most of his threat seems to come from tampering with the government's
countries by supplying rebels, erasing the government's control over countries
doing so, along with him having followers with the same goal scattered throughout the globe.
Neglecting that for a second, I think BB has more hype going for him.
Having a fruit that nulls someone's ability and can suck in everything, is arguably
the most OP fruit, combined with the force of White Beard's hax fruit.
If you can't get to high ground- you're going in, if you get close and attempt to engage,
he can take away what's probably your most valuable attribute, and even from a distance
his Guru Guru is shaking the earth along with you.
