Just finished watching The Last and honestly I loved the first 3/4 of the movie but the final parts were just too weird and distracting for me to handle. Here's my personal thoughts on the movie. Please feel free to share your opinions too!

PS: If this thread makes you unhappy because you've "seen too many The Last threads" then just leave the thread and enjoy your day, it's no biggie. I've been waiting forever to see this movie and am just excited to share my opinions.

THE PROS

*Spoiler warning*

1.) Hamura's Story:
I was amazed by how well put together Hamura's story was. His personal mission to stay on the moon to begin a clan of his own, and how the branch family collected the Byakugans for power was really interesting.

2.) The Animation:
Absolutely beautiful animation with great movement, colors and lighting.

3.) The Romance Story:
Honestly I thought I was going to hate this part, but it surprisingly wasn't too bad. Naruto and Hinata slowly start to rub off on each other and gradually grow close instead of it being immediate and convenient. There were a select few cheesy parts, but overall it didn't kill me.

4.) Toneri:
I actually liked Toneri as a villain. His warped view on Hamura's legacy was understandable (since that's all he ever knew while growing up) and being the last of his clan added a lot of realistic pressure to force him do what he did. I also liked how calm he was and that he never had too many goofy screaming villain moments.

5.) Naruto's orange Rasengans
Looks like he's starting to infuse Kuarama's chakra with his jutsus, which looks awesome!

6.) Naruto trying to rub his back
Just a damn funny scene that made me laugh haha. I think we've all been there before lol.

THE CONS

*Spoiler warning*

1.) Space Cannons:
I found Kumo's giant chakra space canon a little bit far fetched. Seriously that thing fired a laser around the entire earth lol. Wtf is the point of ninjas, jutsus, and anything else that makes the NV what it is when that crazy technology exists?

2.) Breathing on the Moon:
Naruto and his team somehow breathing in space; Pretty self explanatory.

3.) Kill Him!:
That moment when Toneri was just laying there on the floor in paralyzing pain due to the Tenseigan's final transformation really bugged me. Seriously Naruto and Hinata just stood there talking and didn't even consider taking that huge 30 SECOND window to completely obliterate their worst enemy lol.

4.) Not nearly enough Sasuke:
Seriously, why degrade such an important character to just a few seconds of screen time? He swore to protect the shinobi world from harm, but when he sees the moon plummeting to the earth he just chills in the desert and only contributed by taking out only one asteroid?

5.) Kurama outside of Naruto:
Probably my biggest problem with the movie. Kurama completely separated himself from Naruto in the final fight, which we all know is impossible or Naruto would surely die. It felt like no one on the production team knew the rules of NV or ever read anything from the series. It was a big slap in the face to NV logic.

6.) Moon Repairs:
The moon was ripped in half but we never saw how it was put back together. It just magically happened?

So, what is your opinion on the movie? What are your pros and cons?

You gotta remember it's anime, the moon blowing up is nothing compared to ninjas traveling to the moon to save someone.
Don't think to much on what what's far from reality especially in something as fictitious as an anime otherwise you won't enjoy whatever it is

I agree with you for the most part. It's not so much what can be done in reality vs anime that bugged me, but more of what NV logic/rules were ignored.

Thank you for actually watching the movie before giving your input, unlike most idiots on this site who only reads the plot and don't watch the directive of it ...

I'll PM you with the info :). Just be aware it's a streaming link and not a downloadable piece.

I can explain the last two cons.

The kurama that was outside Naruto's body was a shadow clone that had somehow gone full bijuu mode, actually turning into Kurama rather than using an Avatar. It's stupid, but plausable.

The Moon would have fixed itself with it's own gravity. Two large rocks hanging meters from eachother in space are going to fall towards eachother.

Thanks man I appreciate that. Awesome Toneri ava btw!

I'm actually really glad you mentioned the shadow clone thing cuz I was thinking the same thing. It would have been cool if they showed the clone inside Kurama just to give it more sense, but yeah I can live with this idea.

As for the moon thing, I think the earth's gravity would pull the debris in and be destroyed, but it's an anime so we can't apply real rules. I was thinking it'd be cool to see Naruto and Sasuke restore the moon with their sage abilities like they did before.

I liked the movies, it was pretty cool and definitely better than all other movies. Though, I kind of hated how naruto didn't call on all of the beast that were mentally linked to him when he got mad. I also hated the fact that toreni as villain, had no real development throughout the movie aside from wanting the tenseigan and destroying the earth, Kinda cliche if you ask me. Though, his character design was one of the best in naruto, especially in tensigan mode.

Overall it was 8.5/10 movie.

Just because the moon is cut in half, doesn't mean it looses any Mass or speed. it would still be traveling at a sufficient speed to maintain an Orbit around the planet. So we can apply real rules and get the right answer.

Well it's been shown that jinchurikis with Rikudo chakra can project the bhijus from their body. Like what a Juubi Jinchuriki does with the God Tree.

It's one of the manny awesome perks of Rikudo chakra

I don't see what is wrong with Kurama being outside of Naruto's body? As long as they are still linked to one another it's not much different then a clone.

I definitely have to agree with you about Naruto not using Kurama very often, especially when things got difficult. Like there was that one scene where Naruto got nuked by Toneri and I was wondering why he didn't at least go to BSM to shield himself.

Did you not like the animation? Maybe i'm just so used to Studio Perriot's anime quality now that I think everything else I see looks good lol . Please explain more though, I'm just curious to hear your opinion.

For me

Pros

1-Naruto somewhat following in Iruka's footsteps by teaching at the academy and taking his students out to eat ramen.

2-Naruto showing growth during the 2 year time-skip-His mastery Rasengan/Rasenshuricken in base, Taijutsu proficiency and the dedication he had towards improving it.(even when it was snowing), as well as the mastery of Kurama's power-Partial transformation and splitting as to allow Kurama to fight like a summon (He still had some of the power inside him...so i found it to be an interesting loop-hole to the dieing due to extraction thing.)

3- Kinda on the fence about the squad of about 10 gates users that busted half of the meteor.

Cons

1-Naruto Knowing Kage Bunshin before he stole the scroll

2-The way Hamura's back-story contradicted the manga...It seemed lazy, his back-story could've easily meshed with Hagoromo's.

Kurama didn't cut the bond between him and Naruto. Naruto was still using BSM. So perhaps he had a part of Kurama still? Like Bee did when Eight-o was extracted.

I definitely like your pros. I didn't even think about the Iruka parallel, but yeah that's a good one. The improved taijutsu and rasenshuriken usage was definitely a plus. His rasenshuriken speed and accuracy was pretty badass.

I personally wasn't too fond of seeing all the eight gates users. It just took away some of that uniqueness factor for me.

Why do you feel Hamura's story contradicted the manga? I thought it was pretty neat but maybe I missed something.

Kurama didn't cut the bond between him and Naruto. Naruto was still using BSM. So perhaps he had a part of Kurama still? Like Bee did when Eight-o was extracted.

I'm starting to accept that as the process too. It does make sense, but again I just wish they would have shown more explanation.
