and i noticed something. Sasuke clearly states he lost to Naruto. So why are there still debates about it?

anyway, does anybody else feel like the Naruto wank in this movie was over the top? And that Naruto, OF ALL PEOPLE, should be the LAST person in NV who neglects somebody, ESPECIALLY HIS OWN SON? AFTER EVERYTHING HE WENT THRU HIMSELF AS A KID????

i mean really, did it take an end-of-the-world theme for Naruto to understand that neglecting his own child is wrong?

*sigh* i wanted to like Naruto as Hokage but till this day, it still seems that Minato holds the #1 spot for best overall Hokage ever.

Neither have I, yet growing up without one made me more kind to others even more so.

People don't grow up the same. I can relate to boruto because I felt neglected like him but I had to understand that my parents had to stay away from me. Naruto is too busy with his work + the village.

Yeah I said the same thing about Naruto not making enough time for Boruto and he should see it coming but shonen's seem to have selfishly bad dads so....

he doesn't neglect his son, he always gives him advice if you watch carefully, he tries to guide him but untill boruto felt what war is, he just didn't understand naruto, he taught that naruto was acting cool and that he was only caring about himself.

the one that changed after momoshiki isn't naruto if you watch carefully, but boruto, he now listens to his father and respects him, and that's what he should have done from the begining, that brat

gotta respect the nanadaime, shitty brat.

He absolutely neglected him regardless if Boruto's a brat or not. Naruto could easily make a shadow clone to do all his clerical work and signing but in the gaiden manga he tells Boruto he's too busy. Mother ****er can make over 1,000 clones how is he busy?

Naruto was just an awkward father. He had trouble connecting with his son and didn't realize the kind of role model he needed to be.

Some plot reason that Naruto couldn't use shadow clones to do the work for him while he spent time with his family. But in reality, it's more of his character staying true to himself. Naruto stated back in the War Arc, there was no shortcuts to becoming the Hokage. That rings true while being one. Outside of the mundane activities they make the Hokage do in the Movie, he still has to be the real one in the Office.

Otherwise what's the point of Naruto being the Hokage if he isn't the real one there anyway?

Naruto never had a mother or father growing up. It's completely normal that there would be some difficulities when it comes ot balancing his family, and work life. He doesn't know how to do it (we see him constantly ask his father 'Minato' for advice), nor did anyone show him the ropes. Being the Hokage (in the Movie) is no easy task at all, even Kushina had the fear of Minato not being around their son back in the flash back. Like Naruto said, he has to be the father of the entire Village, but that doesn't make everything he did justifiable. There were scenes where you just crack up because you feel for his family, and his daughter in particular. Naruto in no way is the 'best, or perfect dad', he actually stated himself that he had been a pretty awful dad lately. But it's the fact that he realizes his faults, and he grows from the situation itself to become a father that can balance out his Hokage related duties while still being the husband and father. If you ask me, he has one of the hardest jobs on the planet.

He used shadow clone to increase his training rate to reach Hokage why not be morally ok with using them to do trivial work so he con focus on other things as well. Or even send the clones for the other activities and he can stay in his office if he wanted.

The point would be he still would have the majority of the power to defend the country, Naruto would still be in the village if the clone couldn't handle it and he could multitask his Hokage duties and hang with friends and family all at once without neglecting any of them.

The exact reason of him not having parents growing up means he should know to at least try and give Boruto his attention when he wants it especially when he's graffiti-ing the Hokage mountains just like Naruto did that should be a big red flag that his son feels how he felt and after all the time he spent dwelling on how shitty it was he doesn't even attempt to alleviate that pressure from his son.

The Hokage job isn't easy because there's a lot of work but if he made 10-20 clones to run around the office handling work and used Shikamaru to help guide him it'd be a cake walk. Have 5 clones filling out paper work, 2-3 training, 2-3 molding senjutsu chakra(if he still needs them to do that) a few for defense and then 7-8 to go through the village and interface with the people.

He doesn't even train like he used to, at least there is nothing to prove that. He hasn't even used that training method since the Rasen Shuriken Arc, because you know nerfs. That's actually what Naruto does. For years now, he's sent clones to do outside work that supposedly he has to do alone, while the real Naruto handles all the other main Hokage duties in the Office.

I don't think he feels that using a clone is the same as neglecting them. But ever since he wore the Cloak, he felt the duty of the job itself and didn't want to use short cuts or other means to seem as if he wasn't taking it seriously. No other Hokage before him used shadow clones to finish their work. Why would he?

Well the thing is, he does give Boruto attention, and his family. He just isn't perfect with it. Like when Boruto told Naruto to not miss his sister's birthday, and later we saw Naruto's shadow clones preparing to buy gifts and food from the store. He was the first one at the house and he was preparing everything so that they can setup her birthday. So in that sense, he is shown to be caring and attentive. But then he overworked himself via main body by sending clones to do countless jobs (which mind us he has been the Hokage for years now so this is accumulative) which strained his body and mind. So he destroyed the cake, thus ruining her birthday party all together.

The only real time that I saw Naruto not actually being there whether it was him, or a clone, was an old photograph of Boruto's birthday in which Naruto wasn't in the picture.

I think I explained most of that above.

Whether Naruto makes appearances in his kids life via clone or himself isn't really the issue, Boruto feels abandoned by his father and is acting out in the exact same manner as Naruto as a child which should be an enormous red flag for Naruto yet he let's it be. Providing for your family isn't all that makes you a good parent, you see it in real life and fiction all the time, hell just look at Lex Luthor all the provisions in the world but no quality parental time leads to a sociopath with a lot of resources. As long as Boruto gets attention from somewhere like Naruto did Iruka then Naruto being absent won't lead to that path but if he's left alone like Naruto was he could wind up like Gaara.

Naruto can't enforce anything on his child, but he has to make him mature. The reason why Boruto acts out isn't just because he feels neglected by his father, it's because for the most part his mentality isn't there yet. Compare him to Himawari for a moment, who is going through the same thing but understands her father's situation and reasons with him. Boruto acts out through anger and contempt. Given that he's the only one out of the two that really does anything to make sure Naruto stays on his toes, both his sister and mother accept that his job is tiring and consumes him to the point where he can't always be the father/husband for them. However, that's where the movie plays in for Naruto's character development too where he had to learn the balance so that he can spend more time with them, as a normal family.

So Himawari his younger sister is more mentally mature? No. Himawari is more content because she has Hinata and Boruto also has Hinata but can't relate the same as a boy to his father. I didn't say anything about Naruto enforcing anything on his son, where's that coming from? In the gaiden manga he acted out because his dad wasn't spending time with him and he thought this would be a good way. He wanted his dad to chase him because that meant he was paying attention to him and he got depressed it ended so quick when Naruto used shunsin, Boruto wanted longer even if it was the process leading to his punishment. There's a lyric that fits Boruto and young Naruto perfectly "And some parents only touch they children when a whips brought
That's why bad kids do bad shit, just so they could caught
And get touched, this growing up shit's rough
That's a big part of why were so mixed up"
They seek the attention so badly they'll even take the negative over none at all. Which is exactly how Naruto was, it's exactly how Gaara was and it's how Boruto is until he makes some friends, so until then Naruto should be keeping an eye on him and making sure he doesn't feel the same pain Naruto felt as a child.

Yes, it even stated she was more mature in her character biography for the Movie.

He didn't 'act' out in the Gaiden, in the way you're referencing. Boruto painted the Hokage monument to draw Naruto out so that he can 'play' with him. And a chapter or two later, we see him going to deliver a lunchbox to his father. By the time he reaches the Gate, Naruto is gone and Shikimaru is apologizing for him. Boruto gets angry and walks away.

That's not how I interpreted the scene. When Boruto was hiding from his father, I think he at some point just gave up. He didn't want to play with a clone, but he wanted the real Naruto to be there for him. That's why he hid from him, and I think Naruto knew he was there too.

That's completely wrong though -- Comparing Naruto, and Gaara's situations with Boruto is not really appropriate. Boruto feels neglected by his father, sure. But he has his loving mother, and his sister too. Not to mention he's surrounded by friends who also care for him as he does them.

Just because he wants his father's attention, doesn't mean that he should be aligned with those who actually received negative all their lives. Boruto for the most part was a normal kid who gradually accepted Naruto, until he started changing with his job. For the most part he just wants his father not to miss on important days that involve the family, especially things that involve his sister, and he generally wants Naruto to be the father that he once was.
