Just curious, is Itachi's diesease ever explained?

Not formally, but informally.

It was SUSANOO.

If we follow the breadcrumbs:

1. Susanoo eats away at the user's life-force.
2. Using Susanoo too long starts to damage the cells in your body and makes you cough blood.
3. Both Itachi and Sasuke had Susanoo, both suffered the same symptoms.
4. Sasuke noted how bad the affects were with Stage 1 Susanoo, and wondered what it was like for Itachi who mastered it.
5. The effects of the MS are permanent until cured with EMS. Tsukiyomi and Amaterasu deteriorate the eyes and makes you slowly go blind, Susanoo deteriorates the body and slowly kills you.

Nope, sasuke didn't die because of it.

He didn't have it long enough.

No over using MS makes you blind and if that was the case sasuke would be long dead....and his death has NOTHING to do with sharingan.....zetsu pointed it out

Amaterasu and Tsukiyomi makes you go blind, Susanoo is stated in the databook to slowly eat away at the user's life.

Sasuke suffered the same symptoms as Itachi; physical pain, falling over, coughing blood, and he didn't have any kind of "ninja aids." He did however, like Itachi, have Susanoo... Sasuke also wondered how bad Susanoos effects were on Itachi since he mastered it.

Itachi had MS for 10 years and used it sparringly, Sasuke had MS for a few weeks and spammed the hell out of it.

Zetsu never touched upon the subject.

huh! these threads...! well sasuke somehow had to kill him and sick itachi was the only way for him to kill itachi...! :snick:

Itachi was taking a dive anyway, it didn't matter what his physical condition was.
