If you're hoping this will be some thread about the recent chapter, sorry to disappoint you. But it's not. It's more or less just something I was thinking of and wondering if it's either a plothole, or something entirely missed.
The topic is: How much did Kisame know about "Tobi"?
I have a feeling Kisame may have known Obito was not truly Madara. I mean, it seems rather obvious. Obito had revealed his face to Kisame twice in the manga.
The first time was when Taka was allying with Akatsuki.
The second time is during Kisame's flashback, when unconscious.
The fact of the matter is, Kisame should be able to clearly tell the difference between Madara Uchiha and Obito.
Kisame had both knowledge on the sharingan and of Madara Uchiha, it seems. In the scan I posted earlier, Kisame doesn't believe him at first and demands that Obito reveals himself.
Other than the way they look, even if Kisame didn't know exactly what he looked like, Obito is too young looking at this point in time to be a shinobi from eighty to a hundred years ago.
My question is this, did Obito some how deceive Kisame when they first met? Possibly casted a simple genjutsu on him?
Or did Obito trust Kisame enough to inform him of the entire plan? That Madara was dead but Obito would act out the plan and there was a way to revive him when the time is right? It would make sense, gaining a shinobi who is confused on what is truth and what is a lie by telling him the honest truth. It could change Kisame's view of Obito.
It would seem odd for Kisame to be tricked, for me atleast. He's a top tier shinobi who controls a sword that can break him out of genjutsu, hypothetically speaking. So why did Kisame believe Obito was actually Madara?
And before anyone starts saying that Kisame met the real Madara, I doubt it. Kisame defected from the village during or after the Third Shinobi War. The same time Obito "died". Kisame himself is only 32 years old, not nearly old enough to have been alive during an earlier period.
With conflict between Konoha and Kiri, it does seem like they were at war
And Madara says himself that he can not leave the cave without dying. That, and he was lacking a right eye when he met Obito. "Madara" revealed a right sharingan eye. So it couldn't be him.
Now, I think that's everything.. So, Did Kisame know more than we previously thought he did? I certainly think he knew "Tobi" was not the real Madara.
It's sort of hard to confuse the two when looking at their faces and checking for signs of how old they are and obvious features.
