Jounin Vs. ANBU

I'm sure a lot of you know better than me so I thought I'd ask. Which is more powerful in skill/rank, Jounin or ANBU. I just watch the anime nowadays because I'm lazy and can't stand reading books in the comp so I don't know if the manga or ninja handbook thing ever spelled it out completely. Its just that sometimes it seems that the Jounin are superior and sometimes ANBU. They talk about ANBU like its the coolest BA thing but we've seen some pretty lame ANBU to be honest, we all saw the chounin exams...but we've seen some lame Jounin as well *cough cough* Kurenai....

Anyway help a sista out and set me straight!!!

Thats tough but its a tie because anbu has unique skill and has info on jounins like kakashi so it kinda a bit of a tie

very hard to say.. We dont know about ANBU they work in secret.. So its quite difficult..

it's a tie because anbu like said before have info on jounin but without it they won't be able to defeat it and in rank anbu are higher but in skill think jounin are higher

the ANBU are a higher rank but it's stupid because realy some lame jounins defeated them,and kabuto easily,and even sora when they went to seure the tree tails deidara killed them without a fight(thats from a filler though) but seriosly the anbu are prety weak in the series

In skill and rank Jounin are more powerfull, but being put into ANBU is not really a title its more of something you are picked for because of certain skills..........like Kakashi was in the ANBU before he was a Jounin and so was captian yamato they are both Jounin level but people that are not Jounin can be picked to be in the ANBU for example Sai is clearly not Jounin level but he was in the ANBU before he joined team 7(sorry if ur not that far in Shippuden)

so I think being in the ANBU depends on the certain ninja skills a ninja has

also Guy and Kakashi are pretty much on the same level back when they were younger (dont rage on me ppl) and Guy is clearly not fit to be in the ANBU

ANBU are better than jonin but cases such as kakashi, well he was part of the ANBU team, so i would conclude that ANBU are the top ninjas

Yep this.....so in short anbu is not a rank but a group made up of very skilled ninja chunnin and above levels

I know Killer B did not just try my Gai Sensei!!!! I agree though he probably should not be in ANBU he's too loud. I guess I never thought of Sai not being Jounin level. He seemed really BA when he was introduced and even caught Yamato (who is ANBU i guess...but still..) in the simulation they did which made me think that maybe ANBU was awesome. Not that they aren't but I think I lean more towards that thinking that Jounin are the superior rank. In skill anyway.

most of jounins are better coz they have to protect their disciples during missions unlike the anbu ..back stabbers who mostly work in shadows

Pretty much. ^ It all depends on your skill set. ANBU are needed for the more covert/sneaky/reconnaissance type missions, but they also need to pack some sort of punch in case things get ugly. Which explains why Kakashi would fit the role much better than Guy even though they are considered equals. You need more than pure taijutsu and dynamic entries to be in ANBU. lol

I have a question.. It is most likely a noob question, but isn't AMBU chosen by the kage from the Jonin in the village? Where does it say that Kakashi was in AMBU before he was a jonin?

yes sai is not jounin level but don't forget he wasn't in the official ANBU he was part of Danzo's Root but in response to the original question we can never really be sure who is superior but if i had to vote it would probably be the ANBU but we have seen more of the jounin so they will probably get more votes
