Nah he gets outclassed by new gen due to the new fast paced play. Even in GX, Jaden was about end Yugi level from thier last duel of the series

No it needed to be Yugi. It was in a way Yugi beginning to branch off from Atemu and take the needed steps to beat him one day. Also it showed how Yugi was more so the kind one while atem was the strong one.

Could've, Would've, Should've, the heat was too much for Joey. Marik pulled out his trump card and won.

That's like saying Rock Lee should've beaten Gaara.

Both had the potential but failed when it mattered the most.

I believe Kaiba whooped him as well after the match with Marik.

I don't think so, the only reason Marik would've lost is because he relied so much on his opponent being drained of strength. No sane quarter-finalist would pull the same tactic Marik did when he knows he'd be left defenseless after that.
