So I just saw Star Trek 2, and I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. coming out of the theater though, I heard discussion form die hard fans, and it confused me a bit. I should point out now that I am not a long time fan. The only Star Trek movies I've seen are JJ Abrams films, so I apologize if this question would otherwise be obvious to a long time fan of the series, but are the 2 recent films supposed to co-exist with the previous films? I thought these were just supposed to be remakes/reboots, but I heard people talk about these being alternate dimensions or something of the sort.

I liked how they made the villain a nobody to someone huge, where as iron man failed and made the main villain go from someone huge, to really a nobody.

You're subscribing to Jeremy Jahns aren't you!? =D Still very true though.

OT: This is my "review" of the movie. I have to say I really loved it. The only thing I would give a negative is that you're extremely tired after watching it. But that really isn't a bad thing, it's just that the movie is very intense, I would say. And that's a plus, so it evens out the negative.

What do you mean exactly?
Do not read if you haven't seen Iron Man 3 or Star Trek. But I'm at least guessing you've seen the latter:

In IM3, The Mandarin turned out to be a figure head. The Mandarin is probably Iron Man's biggest nemesis. While in Star Trek 2, Benedict Cumberbatch's character was first introduced as a nobody, then later it was revealed that he is the biggest villain in Star Trek history.
