Re: Derp question about Jiraiya

i agree
As much as I'd love Jiraiya to turn up alive, I highly doubt it. =(
Obito lived because Madara found him and effectively used Hashirama's DNA to help him recover—Jiraiya didn't have much of the same privilege.

Unfortunately, since Jiraiya was impaled (roughly) 5 times, was missing an arm, and sank to the bottom of a very deep (and increasingly pressured) lake, I don't think we'll see him return. =(

Just my thoughts. =]

His role in the story is fulfilled. Naruto grew up into the super strong man he is today, mostly from being trained under Jiraiya. He trained the Savior of the World, both Nagato (the one that messed up) and Naruto (the one who will succeed). It would be a massive troll moment when he passes on the torch in death, only to find out that he's still alive and hold the torch in his hand.

Besides, for one he was bleeding out, without the ability to talk, his throat crushed, barely able to move, with 5+ holes in his body, all underwater. Also, Kabuto confirmed that he was at the bottom of the ocean, and not even he himself can survive the water pressure. What makes you think Jiraiya would survive?

Jiraiya's book is finished. He kept it to himself in his mind, and titled it in his death. That is his legacy.

Now, while the theory sounds ludicrous, lets think about some of the ludicrous things that have taken place as of late that have been completely unexpected.

Obito=Tobi (while this wasnt a hard concept, many stuck by and provided *proof* that he was not and could not be Obito, Yet it is.)
Orochimaru still being alive (Not only killed, but forever sealed away by the most powerful sealing weapon in the narutoverse, only for there to be a convoluted excuse for his revival)

Whos to say that in the three years off-camera, Jiraya hadn't done a similar jutsu on Naruto, allowing himself to be brought back if he was ever killed and Naruto needed him? When you think about how convoluted the narutoverse truly is, you realize that the seemingly impossible is actually quite commonly proven possible.

Im not saying this theory is true, or is accurate by any means, but at this juncture on our journey through the world of Naruto, it is simply preposterous to assume that something cannot happen simply because it hasn't happened yet and Kishi has proven to rival M. Night with his plot tweests.
