If Orochimaru killed the orphans back then, then Madara would probably send zetsu to retrieve the rinnegan and put it into someone else(another uzumaki/senju)- someone who may not share the ideals of Jiraiya. That would make him an even greater danger to the leaf when he finally invades it, at least Nagato came into terms with Naruto thanks to Jiraiya's ideals that were imbedded deep inside of him. But akatsuki would have happened regardless, maybe in different form but it would have happened anyways.

Nagato was "one" of the chosen ones. It was fate bro. Plus Jiraiya isn't a horrible person unlike Oro.
If all what you stated didn't happen, well all i can say is during that fight Naruto Matured a lot, emotionally and physically.
Naruto wouldn't have been the "hero of the leaf"
and i know it's pretty weird im saying that the leaf had to be destroyed but this is naruto so it all revolves around him.
Everything Kishi writes has a reason, you cant say what if, because if Pain didn't kill Jiraiya, naruto wouldn't bother with SM,

If he would've killed them then he would've needed a Uzumaki so who would he been left with Konan or narutos mom? I'm not sure on the timeline with narutos mom so that might not have been possible.
Too bad for Oro fans he could take nagato's body I bet that would've been better then a Uchiha body.
