Jiraiya was Sensei to Konan, Yahiko and Nagato for 3 long yrs.

During the Ninja War, Jiraiya chanced upon the 3 of them and believed Nagato was the reincarnation of the Sage of the 6 Paths. He truly believed in Nagato's resolve to find peace and was willing to spend his time coaching the 3 of them. Nagato, as a Rinnegan user and a Uzumaki, was able to master all the jutsu taught by the Toad Sage himself. Not only that, he did what Jiraiya couldnt - to use all 5 or 6 elements.

Today as I was watching back the past series, something came to me. Why didnt Jiraiya teach him the Sage Mode Jutsu? Nagato fulfill all the pre-requirements (Large Charka reserve) to learn Sage Mode, and with his Rinnegan, learning the Sage Mode Jutsu should not be a problem.

Fate really made fun of Nagato, if Danzo and Hanzo didnt double crossed him, he might truly become the world savior by now. (I know its plot no jutsu... haha... just saying... excuse me... peace)

may be its one of the 2 reasons

1. Jiraiya himself was not a master at SM and to learn SM u need a contract with Toads and go to Mount Myōboku then learn it from pa and ma... so jiraiya might have felt that its not necessary for the Rinnegan user who already has 5 elements to leave his frnds alone to learn some new tech... also jiraiya didn't know Nagato was a Uzumaki ...only madara told obito

2. Jiraiya only wanted to teach the 3 orphans enough jutsu and tech to protect themselves in times of these war situation ...nagato awakened the rinnegan during training and got really gud with all elements and learnt very fast which was a bonus

I understand the initial aim was for them to master some Jutsu to protect themselves. But 3 yrs is a very long time for someone with the Rinnegan. In fact, I believe if Nagato wants, he can learn all Jutsu with just one demonstration from Jiraiya. So it inevitably left me to wonder why Nagato was not taught the Sage Mode.

As for Jiraiya not knowing Nagato is a kid with huge chakra is quite impossible.

And hell why didnt Jiraiya teach Nagato the Rasengan???? With his Rinnegan, Nagato could fuse all 5 or 6 elements to his Rasengan and spam it better like Naruto did with his Rasenshuriken.
