It is true that Jiraiya trained Naruto, but in my mind he was not a good teacher.
When he meet Naruto he teach him the summon justsu and later the rasengan.
When Jiraiya and Naruto left the village, because he wanted to train Naruto he teaches Naruto only to make the Rasengan bigger. It is not very much what he accomplished in this 2 1/2 years-

His training also helped Naruto to be smarter in combat...

I disagree.

- Jiraiya was the father figure that Naruto never had.
- He taught him how to dispel genjutsu.
- Taught him rasengan and how to augment it. That experience definitely played a part in how Naruto makes so many variants of Rasengan now.
- He spent a lot of time cleaning up Naruto's basic skills so he would be more well rounded and efficient instead of a wreckless powerhouse.
- He showed him not just how to summon, but how to summon some very large boss toads.
- Jiraiya probably would have taught him SM but was killed before he had the chance.
- He taught Naruto how to control the nine-tails up to three tails, which was important for Naruto's training with Bee. Also don't forget that it was Minato's dying wish for Naruto to learn how to work with Kurama.
- The training definitely made Naruto use shadow clones more effectively.
- Naruto was clearly better at Taijutsu when he returned. He used to suck at it when he was a kid.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: Jiraiya taught Naruto the philosophy that was needed to bring the world to peace. This was a belief that even Obito accepted as true.

Jiraiya trained Naruto, Minato, Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan. He's obviously one of the best senseis in the NV.

Naruto was a failure before he met jiraiya...jiraiya made him much more composed and tactical...which is what a ninja needs

I agree. He focused too much on the 9 tails instead of ninjutsu. All he taught him was to make a slightly bigger ransengan..... really?

It is you right to disagree , but he teaches him nothing useful in the 2 1/2 years . Naruto learned the Rasengan in a week. I had have more expectations on him. Only a bigger Rasengan.

This thread is a failure, Jiraiya was a good teacher and father figure to Naruto. He trained him and watched over him. Why do you have to be so hateful

His lessons changed Naruto from the core up, this is the epitome of teaching. To "Make Learn", he did and the results show.

Show me another effective teacher in NV.

^This
During the rescue Gaara Arc Naruto showed he could coordinated and think tactically alongside Kakashi. Compared to where he was in part 1, a loose cannon with powerful jutsu. Part 2 Naruto is much more refined ninja. Easily worthy of Chunin rank. Sure Naruto isn't the smartest guy (evidence by Kakashi explaining to him the elements and kage bushin learning) but he makes up for it with hard work, ingenuity and cleverness in battle.

The height of Jiraya's teachings to Naruto come full bloom when Naruto fought the 6 paths of Pein and confronted Nagato.
