Jiraiya one shotted two different Akatsuki members - stop underrating

Tell me how he'll get past Tsukuyomi, Amaterasu and Susano'o and them come back to me. A sick, blind Itachi could DESTROY him. Back then, Jiraiya was just being hyped up because of his status. Notice how Itachi and Kisame kept on saying "sannin, sannin". They were afraid of his hype, not him. When Itachi was running away from the toad mouth trap he could have turned around and one shotted him, but he never. So shhh. Itachi > Jiraiya.​

this is kind of hard because both of them are in my top 5 characters, but in my opinion, let me just clarify certain things. to all of the people saying that itachi himself stated that he can at best stalemate vs jiraiya, or that they would both die etc etc, i dont think you can trust his words. its been stated that he avoided fighting anyone if possible and MAY have just said that to convince kisame that he did not want to fight. that being said, i believe jiraiya is VERY underrated. the problem is the difference in power levels in memories and such. its hard to say that jiraiya can beat itachi because he is a sannin and all of that when you see a memory of itachi one shotting orochimaru with a genjutsu. granted, that wasnt a real fight and it seemed like oro just went for the one shot kill in possessing him. in my personal opinion i feel that it all depends on match ups. in a jiraiya vs itachi thread, it can go either way, and i dont want to argue it either way. but for all of those people saying that blah blah blah can beat jiraiya or anything like that, lets face the facts. jiraiya killed 3 peins mid difficulty. pein stated himself that if jiraiya had intel on him, he would have won (something that naruto barely was able to do even WITH god realm on the fritz). jiraiya had the upper hand on konan without knowing any of her moves. i feel like so many people overrate itachi, and the other half just hate him for the hype, which i can understand. but let me just say this: for everyone saying that u cant avoid amaterasu, thats bs. if that were the case, sasuke and itachi would be gods. sasuke was able to avoid it by using on of oros techniques. if oro has a technique for it, why cant jiraiya? everyone says jiraiya relies too heavily on sage mode and that he cant just activate it during a fight. he used it during his fight with pein, why not with anyone else? this has become a versus thread and thats ridiculous. no one is saying he can beat itachi, but based off of match ups and general knowledge, he is in the same level. thats what i think at least :/

You are right that Might Guy could defeat Pein and Itachi easily. That's why he wasn't present at both times when Itachi invaded the Village Gate and Pein invaded the Village. And when he was present, look what he did to Kisame.

i believe jiraya has more stamina than itachi, and with the sage mode he could dodge amaterasu, or even susano'o. ma and pa would be on his shoulder so genjutsu should be not a problem.. i think??? correct me if im wrong

In Sasuke's fight with Itachi, Sasuke managed to dodge the Amateratsu flames by moving...If you saw the Pain Versus Jiraiya fight then you know he was able to move AND even attack while he was prepping for sage mode. So then why could Jiraiya simply not move out of the way of the flames?

Well I was unaware he would just sit there and take it...even if he had trouble getting out of the way, what's to prevent him from hiding in the belly of a random toad while he sets up his sage mode?

Your points about controlling the toad summons is valid, but remember that Jiraya possesses a vast amount of knowledge on sealing and barrier techniques. I refer back to the fight between Tobi and Minato here for a moment.

Keeping in mind Minato was Jiraiya's student, we saw minato seperate Tobi's control from Kurama using a sealing technique. Given the severe speed enhancements sage mode provides what's to stop Jiraiya from using that speed to get close to Itachi and seperate his control of said toad summonings?

Let's also consider the fact that I'm sure controlling an animal with the Sharingan is not a chakra free technique. And if we're talking high level fighting and comparing Itachi's stamina to Jiraiya's then I doubt he can control these summons, defend/attack Jiraiya, and use Susaonoo' all at the same time. We know Itachi does not possess the stamina for a long drawn out fight.

I understand Susanoo' is a damn good defensive technique, and I'm not arguing that but Itachi know's his limits. He's not going to spam this technique the whole fight, at least not if he plans on controling Jiraiya's summonings as well as use Amateratsu and genjutsu techniques. If we're being realistic, then this fight goes to Jiraiya hands down.

BUT since this isn't a jiraiya vs anyone thread, I'll just say again that he is underestimated too damn much!

He is a sanin! Not some push over Shinobi. He's trained some of the strongest ninja in Naruto, and has tons of knowledge on different countries, jutsu, and organizations.

He's undoubtedly one of the strongest characters in Naruto, but his strength and intelligence is undervalued.

For anyone who is STUPID enough to beleave that during itach and sasuke's fight that sasuke dodged amateratsu, which is one of the fastest katon techniques, by running away from with two giant wings on your back, is really frickin retarded and has no logic once so ever that itachi NEVER wanted to kill sasuke and IF he did, he would of killed him right in the spot with susano'o

Jiraiya one shotted both Konan and Kisame. You know, the same Konan who was able to give Tobi trouble. And remember, Kisame was a Jinchuriki hunter. He also defeated three Paths of Pein without getting any injuries or coming close to running low on chakra.

We were even told the guy could defeat Pein and Itachi. It was said that people like Kisame were not even capable of making a difference against him, while Konan was sent home after Pein cleaned the oil off of her restoring her.

And some think Itachi is a level above him. Funny

I'm not saying Jiraiya is better than Itachi or vice versa, just that they are on the same level.

Jiraya never fought kisame but despite what itachi said I think he could beat jiraya and I think kisame could put up a ok fight. And I just find it hard to believe itachi and jiraya are on the same level despite what itachi said. It would be a epic fight but in the end I give it to itachi

Susano'o- Jiriaya can sink the susano'o using Earth Release: Dark Swamp, just like he did to orochimaru's snakes during the Tsunade and Jiraiya Vs Orochimaru Fight & it was shown that under the susano'o you are completely defenceless as shown when garaa pulled madara out under susano'o with his sand

Sumoning Jutsu- Amateratsu easily destroys them, no question

Tsukiyomi/other genjutsu-Can easily control ANY of Jiraiya's sumonings including ma and pa, if Nagoto can control multiple animals with his rinnegan, why cant itachi control animals with his sharingan? Kurama was controlled, Manda was controlled, the Mizukage was controlled, so the probabilty that frogs can be controlled is very high, without sage mode jiriaya will get caught in genjutsu but probally has SOME way to escape it becase he is a sanin

Giant Rasengan-This wont go thru Yata Shield but it could probaly take out susano from behind with the speed if sage mode

Sage Mode-Takes Quite a LONG time to charge into sage mode and without the speed of sage mode, jiraiya could easily be caught in Tsukiyomi or amateratsu without the aid of sage mode, leading jiaiya to his death

Amateratsu-One of the faster katon techniques in the series and with flames that burn hotter than the sun, can kill anyone in moments without the speed of sae mode and with how long it takes for sage mode to activate, Jiriaya is sure to die from it

SUMMARY: with al of the information shown above If itachi and Jiriaya were to fight all itachi would need to do is use amateratsu whuch jiriaya cannot dodge without the aid of sage mode which needs to be charged in order to use, if jiraiya can get into sage mode then he defeats itachi with speed and giant rasengan and immunity to genjutsu, but thats gunna be hard to do when you have to charge for 5 minutse and somehow strive to dodge amateratu which is impossible with his current state, Itachi dosnt even need to use susano to defeat jiriaya charging into sage mode so he wont be loosing stamina,sooooo

I will always agree to disagree with you on this topic dude lol. itachi has stated a lot of things and even admitted he was a liar in one of the more recent mangas. there was still a lot to be figured out about itachi as a character in the early series. in fact he had like very little show time compared to jiraiya which is fair to say at the time jiraiya was better/equal to itachi until furthermore information, which in time we got alot more information about itachi and his true intentions. if we go off of such statement from older chapters than I can say pretty laughable statements such as the 3rd can beat the 1st. pain said if jiraiya knew his secret then he would have been beaten? correct, I think if he found the crippled nagato he could have beat him. but that's only with the certain circumstances. A healthy nagato would eliminate jiraiya. let's see, other statements like Tobi saying himself if itachi knew his secret he would be dead. that doesn't make me believe itachi can beat tobi. anyways they're both respectable characters.

Admitting someone can beat you is not lieing.. it is the sole truth..And it is that person's judgement on that specific person. Pein is no need to be overrated.. If Jiraya had knew about the secert and how they worked.. then Jiraya would have pawned pain's ass. why? because Jiraya's sage mode is more reliable then Naruto's due to the Fusion with the elder toads.

Tobi in normal form is overrated. Konan effed him up. Tobi might have been the boss but he was the 3rd or 4th rated strongest before all his upgrades.
