Its clear that Itachi was above Jiraya, by leagues. But why should Itachi, beeing a Leaf Shinobi himself, kill another Leaf Shinobi if he doesn't have to?

As if he could defeat Jiraya. He took out so many of Nagato's paths without intel and yet he's gonna be defeated by someone like Itachi. Yeah... sure.

Don't think so. He's only got three, else he would have used them all. You can teach somebody how to perform jutsu, even if you can't do the jutsu yourself. Kakashi and the RS are examples of this.

Here's my two cents.

Jiraiya could have summoned Shima and Fukasaku to help him teach as between the three of them, they have Fire, Earth, Wind and Water.

After mastering those four, Nagato would have a good amount of experience in nature/shape manipulation and could've mastered Lightning by himself.

You're the troll mate, an individual technique and nature transformations are two different things.

Those techniques didn't exist until the student's time, whereas natures have existed for as long as chakra.

Its not always necessary to know something to teach it. Only five characters can perform all five elements: Kaguya, Hagoromo, Hiruzen, Nagato and Guruguru.

He was respected overall because of his legendary status, and to the highest ranking members in Konoha because of his teacher and students.

I wouldnt be suprised in Jiraiya(hiruzens student) if he had like 4 nature elements. Hes not one of the shinobis with a few OP moves, he owns because he uses many different jutsu in intelligent ways.

No, Kakashi taught him that with the leaf cutting excercise and the waterfall spitting excercise. Naruto came up with the 'idea' to infuse wind style into rasengan on his own? Nope! Kakashi told him about it, and only because it was Minato's idea and he told Kakashi about it.
