Jiraiya wasn't in the village during the time of the attack. When he heard that Minato and Kushina died, he probably assumed the son died as well during the attack since the details of the attack were never disclosed by the 3rd. He knew who Naruto was after first seeing him but he probably didn't even Naruto existed til then.

Well he always knew he was the fourths son but remembered he was his godfather when he was dying

Of course he did, after all he was his Godfather. I don't know why he didn't help raise him though, maybe to keep Naruto's identity as the Hokage's son a secret? (Just the first thing that came to mind)

Yeah, that's about right, but the other is that he were researching the Akatsuki, he knew that they will go after Naruto in some point and when he was done with his research, he returned to the village to train Naruto, to make him stronger to the upcoming treat.

And yeah, of course he knew that Naruto's Minato's son, he's his Godfather.

Yes Juraiya always knew who Naruto was and he trained with him during the first part too. That's when he was writing his first book after training Nagato and Konan they went on a trip together. Then they were together for three years during the time skip.

Juraiya was not a homebody. He liked to travel. He was a Sage and as such was more equipped to uncover intelligence to help the village than most other people. His pervy comic manner would make him less suspicious. I am of the impression that even though they welcomed the fact that Danzo did the villages dirty work, he was not really trusted so the village needed other ways to gather intelligence.

Juraiya also knew that as a jinchuriki Naruto would always be a target. Collecting intelligence would also be a way of protecting Naruto. I believe he thought of Naruto as a godson or grandson. He loved the leaf village but I don't beleive he ever really wanted to settle down and be a parent type.
