Theory only:
Do you think there was some connection with Danzo and Jiraiya that we haven't found out about yet.
1. Jiraiya knew about Yahiko being dead. Basically the only ones that survived it seemed were Danzo and Hanzou. Thus this is why he was suprised to see him alive (sort of) when he fought Pain. So the only way he would have even found out was through Danzo and we all know how secretive he was about everything.
2. Jiraiya told Tsunade to keep an eye on Root and Danzo for a reason like he knew something but couldn't tell her everything. Like maybe he knew that Danzo had the sharingan.
I know it seems a little out there but is just a theory let me know what you think.
