Say Onoki or Mu used a dust release technique on an Edo...should it not kill them?

When they're "killed" by other techniques the left over paper stuff comes back together and they reform.
But if a Jinton technique was used there would be nothing left at all.

So could it completely destroy their body leaving their soul to go back to the pure world until Kabuto takes them back?

It's odd for them to appear out of nothing, doesn't make much sense.

Well Madara was hit by jinton twice and he regenerated. So edo wins I guess.

Well Madara seems to be an exception...with pretty much everything lol.

But I don't remember him being completely consumed by it like in the middle of it so all of him get's hit when does that happen if so?

He still regenerated. Edos can regenerate from any injury even when turned to dust. Jinton turns everything it hits to dust so i guess edos win.

Madara didn't got hit by Jinton because he absorbed it.

This seems pretty OP jutsu, I am wondering for some time now, what is the weaknesses that it has... And your question is fairly good, heh.

Dust release is called so because it reduces whatever it hits to dust. The edo bodies are made from dust covering the sacrifice bodies so they would still recover.

I guess that makes sense, but we never really see dust floating about can only remember it happening with Sasuke.

If it was the Kamehameha kinda one it doesn't seem like there'd be even dust left.
And if the dust was hit multiple times it would surely be turned to nothing eventually.

I think being consumed by a technique of that magnitude should be enough to lets say dislodge the revived persons soul from their Edo body.
I think that's fair since it's not as if everyone can use Jinton.

But yeah it is overpowered regardless...

Sorry not only does it leave nothing to regenerate from but the special formula kunai will at least be destroyed giving the edo more freedom so the user of the jutsu may suffer from it; the jinton only got madara's right arm so he was lucky xd

Madara is a specifically enhanced Edo, he might not be the rule as to the rest of them. And he's never been COMPLETELY vaporized. I could see this going either way.
