For those who haven't heard the new fan theory yet.

I love that I read this and at the same time I wish I hadn't because now it'll either turn out to be a huge spoiler or a huge disappointment.

There's a new fan theory that says the Robin who was tortured leading into BvS is the same person Leto is playing, being the new iteration of Joker and not the one who antagonized Bruce.

The article mentions a storyline involving Tim Drake becoming a criminal after suffering at the hands of the Joker. The obvious thought at the Robin suit in Bvs was Jason but now this throws a whole new wrench(or crowbar) into the mix.

A joker who was robin? A bigger fail can probably not be made
Actually it would be one of the only ok ways to explain why The Joker looks the way Leto does. Also if you read the link then looked up the movie Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker it's not as far fetched.

Synopsis:the Joker and Harley Quinn kidnapped Tim Drake, ****'s successor as Robin, disfigured him to look like the Joker, and tortured him for three weeks...In the Batcave, Terry's investigation leads him to deduce that Tim must be working with the Joker. The equipment the Joker has been stealing can be combined to form a machine that can take control of any satellite, including an orbiting military satellite with an automated defense system, and fire it at will. Terry thinks only a communications expert of Tim’s caliber can build it. Although skeptical, Bruce sends Terry to question Tim. The Joker, who confirms that he and Tim are working together, lures Terry into a trap....After escaping, Terry tracks the Joker to the abandoned Jolly Jack Candy Factory. After fighting off the Jokerz, he finds Tim, who transforms into the Joker before his eyes. When the Joker kidnapped Tim, he secretly implanted a microchip built from cutting-edge genetics technology (revealed later to have been stolen from Project Cadmus) into Tim's brain. The chip carries the Joker's consciousness and genetic material, allowing him to transform Tim into a clone of him at will, eventually becoming strong enough to permanently control his body

The theory I read said the joker was killed by Tim.
I hadn't heard those parts, this article doesn't go deep into the theory just posing the what and not answering the how or why. The article mentions a Batman Beyond film that could fit though if the Robin suit in turn belongs to Tim Drake.

Plz don't post these theories and think that this can happen!!!!!!
Why couldn't it happen or do you just not know how to use words accurately? More often than not comic movies take liberties with the story of a character so not only "could" it happen, it's likely they will change quite a few things about the characters for this movie as well. Are you remotely familiar with the movie Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker that the article mentioned? In it Joker kidnaps and tortures Tim Drake(Not Jason Todd as a lot of people are still holding on to in regards to that suit, which I'm not ruling out) and turns him into The Joker by implanting a microchip in him. IF(and I am aware it's a big if) the writers/directors went with that story it would make sense Letto is really Drake being controlled by The Joker who will get a quick shot at the end of the SS film(theoretically)

Sorry I meant Jason, the one Joker kills in the comic.
